What Is Gallbladder Surgery?

The gallbladder is a small organ that stores bile produced by the liver and helps with digestion. Gallstones, inflammation of the gallbladder (cholecystitis), and functional disorders can cause pain in the upper right abdomen, indigestion, nausea, and a noticeable decline in quality of life.

The goal of gallbladder surgery is to provide a safe and permanent solution without unnecessary delays. Today, most gallbladder operations are performed using laparoscopic (minimally invasive) techniques. This approach allows for less postoperative pain, shorter hospital stays, and a faster return to daily life.
