What Is Oncological Surgery?
Oncological surgery involves surgical procedures aimed at removing cancerous tumors and, when necessary, surrounding tissues within safe surgical margins. Accurate staging, proper surgical planning, and collaboration with specialists such as oncologists, pathologists, and radiologists form the foundation of this treatment approach.
In cancers of the digestive system, thyroid, and soft tissue tumors, treatment is planned individually according to the patient’s overall health, the location of the tumor, and its stage. Surgery is often part of a multidisciplinary treatment plan that may also include chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy.
